FrontPage This section addresses any questions you may have about using Microsoft's FrontPage on Datagate Shared Business Hosting Windows servers. (NOTE: For information on How to use the FrontPage software, please consult the program's documentation, Microsoft Technical Support.)
Support for FrontPageFrontPage extensions are installed upon request for all Windows hosting accounts. If you require FrontPage extensions please contact support with your request. We will configure your site for FrontPage provide you with Technical Support related to the functionality of the extensions. We do not, however, provide direct technical support related to the use of your FrontPage software. User issues are referred to Microsoft's Technical Support Team.
Server ExtensionsFrontPage Extensions are basically CGI programs. FrontPage communicates with the extensions via HTTP using a Remote Procedure Call (RPC). When the server sees the "POST" request addressed to the FrontPage server extensions it directs the request to the appropriate CGI program. Without the FrontPage Server Extensions you will not be able to take advantage of many of the features available through FrontPage (like creating forms, counters etc).
Getting extensions installedTo have the FrontPage server extensions installed on your existing site, send an email request to support@datagate.co.uk with the following information:
(Normally it is not necessary to delete files on the site to install the extensions. However, if there are directories or files with special permissions (.htaccess) these will have to be removed. You can then re-establish permissions and password protection via the FrontPage Explorer.) Once FrontPage is installed it is strongly recommend that you only use FrontPage to transfer files to your site. FTP used in conjunction with FrontPage can cause problems.
ChargesThere is no charge for installing the server extensions. Re-installations are also free of charge. |
