Firewall Configuration Guide

In order to connect with MAPI client (such as Outlook) to the DataGate Exchange service through a local firewall, certain ports have to be opened up on your firewall. Here is the list of ports which should be opened for an outbound traffic FROM your subnet TO the DataGate Exchange server:

25 (TCP) SMTP
53 (TCP+UDP) DNS
80 (TCP) HTTP
88 (TCP+UDP) Kerberos authentication
110 (TCP) POP3
143 (TCP) IMAP
135 (TCP) Remote Procedure Call
389 (TCP+UDP) LDAP
445 (TCP) SMB
4930-4935 (TCP) Global Catalog lookups & MAPI
3268 (TCP) LDAP to Global Catalog Servers

Also, if you plan to use SSL to connect, you will need the following ports:

443 (TCP) secure HTTP
465 (TCP) secure SMTP
636 (TCP) secure LDA
993 (TCP) secure IMAP
995 (TCP) secure POP3

Our Exchange network subnet is:-

For Exchange 2003 - 62.204.35.208- 62.204.35.224

In the other direction (inbound to your network), from our Exchange server to your subnet, it would be best to open all traffic, as Outlook client listens to Exchange server on dynamic ports, above 1024.
