Using Sharepoint with Outlook 2003
To import contact information from your Outlook 2003 address book to a contacts
list on a sharepoint site:
on the quick launch bar, under lists section, click contacts
on the contacts page, click import contacts
if the choose profile box pops up select the relevant profile
in the select users to import dialog box from the show names from the: drop down
list under outlook address book, select Contacts
select the users you wish to import and click OK
To export contacts from Sharepoint to Outlook 2003
On the quick launch bar, under Lists section, click Contacts
Move your mouse over the name of the user you want to export, click on the down
arrow that appears
click Export Contact
Click Open on the VCF file you want to export
click save and close
To copy events to your Outlook 2003 calendar folder from the sharepoint events list
on the sharepoint site
click Events
click Link to Outlook
Click Yes on the dialog box that asks if you want to add a folder
To update the Outlook 2003 copy, right click the Events Calendar folder and in
the drop down menu click refresh
Managing Sharepoint alerts in Outlook 2003
Open Outlook 2003
click Tools and click Rules and Alerts
Click Manage Alerts tab, then click new New Alert
in the web site address text box type the url of the sharepoint site for which
you want to create alerts, then click Open
In the New Alert site that appears select a list or document library you want
to be alerted about, then click Next
in the Send Alerts To section, type your email address if not there, click OK
Close all Internet Explorer windows
Switch to Outlook 2003 and a new alert should be listed in the Rules and Alerts
dialog box, if the alert isn't there click ok, close Outlook and restart and
reopen the Rules and Alerts dialog box
