Server Administration

Our Server Administration service gives you the reassurance that your online presence and your hosted server are in good hands. It also allows you to accurately forecast your costs as the service comes with a fixed monthly fee, leaving you with more time to focus on your core business.

• Unlimited use of our 24x7 support resources
• Emergency Problem Resolution
• System Optimisation
• Server & Network Monitoring
• Security management with patching and regular audits
• Firewall Administration (if Firewall service is included in account)
• Data Backup Management (if Backup service is included in account)

Day to day management of your server includes:

• Operating system upgrades, Log file rotation, adding and removing users, network configuration and scheduled tasks configuration
• Supported software upgrades or service patch updates
• Mail Server (adding/deleting users, mail forwards, autoresponders)
• Web Server (adding/deleting domains, password protection, server module support)
• FTP Server (adding/deleting users, restricting access)
• DNS Server (adding/deleting domain names, modifying zone files and managing DNS configuration)
• Server hardware and network equipment maintenance and monitoring

Our system administrators are on hand to support the following operating systems:

• Windows NT/2000/2003
• RedHat, SuSe Linux
• Solaris 2.6 or above (Intel and SPARC platforms)

For 3rd party software, please provide DataGate with configuration instructions, installation CD (or other media) and software licenses.

Fault identification and resolution

Occasionally you may experience an irregularity in the way your server is operating. Our system administrators are at your disposal for investigating, diagnosing and resolving such issues.

All work is subject to standard administration charges (see below) unless the fault is found to be our responsibility. You will be provided with an estimate for the number of hours required to investigate or resolve a problem which must be approved by email prior to us commencing work.
