Scenario 1: Performance!

We were approached by a customer who had outgrown his existing single server hosting platform. A sharp increase in traffic levels meant that the server resources were overstreched, particularly as they were running a web and database server with a software firewall on the same server. This lead to problems when customers were trying to access their web site including slow server response time or server page time-outs, rendering the server unavailable.

In addition to the requirments to improve performance levels, it was critical that all the customer data was secured and regularly backed up.

On the basis of the recomendations of Datagate's technical team, a new dual server configuration was selected. By separating the web and database servers there was an immediate improvement in performance, eliminating the problems mentioned above.

Scenario 1

The recommended solution included the use of our Managed Firewall to secure the data. We also introduced the Managed Backup service, with full weekly and incremental daily backups, ensuring the safety of the customers data.
